JEAN-PIERRE HEBERT & VICTOR RAPHAEL COLLABORATION
The collaboration between Hébert and Raphael first began in 2001, with a two-person exhibition curated by Susanna Meiers at El Camino College in Southern California titled, Unus Mundus. Hébert states, “I felt that Victor shares my attraction for spiritual and thoughtful works and is totally dedicated to quality; being so close and so different, it became intriguing to find out what we could do working together. So we tried enough to want to continue this mind opening challenging experience.” Raphael states, “I was intrigued by the unique combination of intelligence, sensuality and spirituality in Jean-Pierre’s work. I first selected some of his pieces which I could illuminate with gold and metal leaf applications, then gave him some of my digital files to rework.” Since then, they have been passing work back and forth, improvising and responding to each others creative impulses and processes.
